Good Morning Leasing, I’m writing to you on behalf of a friend who’s got a little maintenance advice to share.
As a maintenance supervisor, wanted me to let you in on a little secret that could make any team work even more effective.
Work Orders: Instead of just sending over a note saying, “There’s a leak at Apt 21B,” try to include these extra details:
How much water is leaking? Is it a steady stream, a slow drip, or something in between?
How long has it been leaking? Did you just notice it, or has it been happening for a while?
Is there a puddle? If so, how big is it?
Where is the leak coming from? Is it from the ceiling, a pipe, or another source?
These extra details helps the maintenance team come prepared with the right tools and plan to handle the situation quickly and effectively.
So, next time you’re sending in a work order, remember this advice from a friend: the more details you provide, the smoother things will go!

Yardi Tip: Generating a Move-In Report
To quickly view recent and upcoming move-ins:
Go to the “Reports” Section: Navigate to the “Reports” menu from the Yardi dashboard.
Select “Move-In Report”: Find and select the “Move-In Report” or “Upcoming Move-Ins” report.
Set Date Range: Configure the date range to show move-ins for the upcoming week or month.
Generate the Report: Click “Run Report” or “Generate” to view the list of move-ins.
The Move-In Report helps you see who’s moving in and when, so you can prepare for new residents and keep up with your commissions.
Dashboard Shortcut: Sometimes you can find a “Move-In Report” widget or shortcut on your dashboard for quick access.
