Good Morning Leasing,

I’m writing to you on behalf of a friend who said, "Your coworkers are not your friends, unless they are." This might sound a bit confusing at first, but let's break it down.

In the leasing industry, our workplace is often like a second home. We spend countless hours with our colleagues, sharing successes, challenges, and even personal stories. It's easy to blur the lines between professional and personal relationships. However, it's crucial to remember that while camaraderie is essential, it doesn't always equate to friendship.

Professional relationships are built on mutual respect, teamwork, and a shared goal of success. It's important to maintain a level of professionalism to ensure that our work environment remains productive and respectful. Misunderstandings and conflicts can arise when we treat all our coworkers as friends, blurring boundaries and expectations.

That being said, some of the most meaningful friendships can indeed form at work. These friendships are built over time, based on trust, respect, and shared values. They go beyond the office walls and withstand the test of time.

So, while it's vital to maintain professionalism, don't close yourself off to the possibility of genuine friendships at work. They can be incredibly rewarding and enriching both personally and professionally.

In essence, treat everyone with kindness and respect, but recognize the difference between professional relationships and true friendships. When the latter happens, cherish it, but always stay grounded in your professional responsibilities.

Hopes this helps someone, from San Francisco, CA. P.S. Learn from me because I thought my manager was my friend but I was thrown under the bus and was humiliated.
